Clinical Cupping Therapy
The Kinetic Protocol

Kinetic Cupping

Myofascial decompression through negative pressure. By creating a vacuum over targeted muscle groups, we lift stagnant blood, release fascial adhesions, and initiate rapid tissue repair where traditional pressure cannot reach.

DECOMPRESSIVE RELIEF

The power of negative pressure

Fascial Unbinding

Chronic tension causes fascia to "glue" to the muscle. Cupping lifts and separates these layers, restoring the sliding surface and ending "stuck" pain.

Oxygen Influx

The vacuum draws fresh, nutrient-rich blood into deep tissues while pulling metabolic waste to the surface for the lymphatic system to process.

Cytokine Response

Cupping triggers a localized "micro-trauma" response, signaling your brain to flood the area with anti-inflammatory cells for accelerated recovery.

Kinetic Freedom

By releasing the "suction" of tight fascia, joints move with less resistance. Perfect for golfers, tennis players, and the high-performance lifestyle.

RECOVERY MATCH

Who is a
Candidate?

Cupping is a results-driven modality. It is designed for those who prioritize functional recovery and are comfortable with the temporary "cup marks" that signal successful decompression.

SENSORY NOTE: Cupping produces circular marks (eccymosis). These are not bruises, but a visual indicator of successful blood stasis release. They typically fade within 3–7 days.

TECHNICAL EXECUTION

The path to
decompression.

01

Thermal Priming

We begin with targeted manual strokes to warm the myofascial layers. This "scouts" the tissue for adhesions and ensures the skin is supple enough for the vacuum transition.

02

Vacuum Decompression

Medical-grade cups are applied to "hot spots." You will feel a strong lifting sensation as negative pressure separates fused layers and draws stagnant blood to the surface.

03

Kinetic Integration

After cup removal, we perform flushing strokes to assist the lymphatic system in processing the released toxins, leaving the muscle nourished with fresh oxygen.

Note: Static and Dynamic (moving) cupping may be used based on tissue density.
INITIAL DECOMPRESSION

New Patients.

Your first Kinetic Protocol includes a Myofascial Assessment. We determine your tissue's response to suction and customize cup placement for your specific injury history.

Note: "Cup marks" may persist for 3-7 days.

RECOVERY MAINTENANCE

Returning.

Your tolerance levels and primary tension zones are already mapped. We move straight into clinical decompression to keep your range of motion at its peak.

CLINICAL FEEDBACK

Voices of
Kinetic.

From chronic "Tech Neck" to athletic recovery, our Bay Harbor clients rely on Cupping to reach the depths that traditional pressure simply cannot.

"I spent years with a 'permanent' knot in my shoulder. One session of Kinetic Cupping did more for my mobility than six months of standard massage."

James R. Corporate Executive · Google Review

"The marks are worth it. My recovery time between training sessions has dropped significantly. Nathalie knows exactly how to decompress the fascia."

Elena S. D1 Athlete · Verified Patient

"I was nervous about the marks, but Nathalie's explanation of the 'flush' made total sense. I felt lighter immediately and the spots faded in just 4 days."

POST-SESSION RECOVERY

The Kinetic
Afterglow.

Cupping initiates a deep internal cleaning process. As your body processes the released stagnation, you will notice specific physical and visual changes.

The "Cup Kiss"

You will likely have circular marks. These are not bruises (which are damaged vessels), but "eccymosis"—stagnant blood drawn to the surface for lymphatic removal. They fade in 3–7 days.

Metabolic Flush

The vacuum releases cellular waste into the bloodstream. You must double your water intake for 24 hours to assist your kidneys in flushing these toxins from your system.

Thermal Shift

The treated areas may feel warm or slightly tender to the touch for a few hours. This is due to the massive influx of fresh, oxygenated blood rushing to the repair sites.

Structural Space

You will feel "hollow" or lighter in your joints. Without the fascial "glue" holding you back, your range of motion will feel significantly more fluid and effortless.

NATHALIE’S RULE: Keep the treated areas covered and warm after your session. Avoid cold showers, swimming, or excessive wind for 12 hours, as the "pores" of the tissue are open and vulnerable to temperature shifts.

THE CATHARTIC DIFFERENCE

Decompression
with intent.

Most spas offer cupping as a stationary "add-on." At Cathartic, it is a primary clinical protocol. Nathalie Koffler integrates **Dynamic Cupping** (moving the cups) and **Functional Range of Motion** to ensure that we aren't just marking the skin, but actually unbinding the fascia from the muscle.

Medical-Grade Equipment

We utilize professional-grade polycarbonate and silicone sets that allow for precise suction control. Unlike cheap alternative sets, our tools are sanitized to hospital standards after every session.

Dynamic Technique

We don't just "park" the cups. Nathalie often uses sliding cupping techniques to massage the tissue from the inside out, addressing large areas of stagnation in a single pass.

Total Privacy

Cupping is a vulnerable process. Our Bay Harbor suite provides a 1-on-1 environment where you can recover in complete silence, away from the foot traffic of a busy commercial spa.

THE METHODOLOGY

Space for
Healing.

The Kinetic Protocol is built on the science of negative pressure. By creating a vacuum over targeted muscle groups, we lift the skin and superficial fascia away from the deep muscle. This "unweighting" of the tissue allows for an immediate influx of nutrient-rich blood and the mechanical breaking of fascial adhesions that manual pressure often misses.

Myofascial Separation

Chronic tension causes your tissue layers to "fuse" together, limiting range of motion. Cupping physically pulls these layers apart, restoring the sliding surfaces necessary for pain-free movement.

Blood Stasis Release

We target areas of stagnant blood and metabolic waste. The vacuum draws these to the surface—resulting in the "cup kiss"—where your lymphatic system can finally process and remove them.

RECOVERY GUIDE

Frequently
Asked.

01 — The Marks

Technically, no. A bruise is caused by blunt force trauma that breaks capillaries. Cupping marks (eccymosis) are caused by vacuum pressure drawing stagnant blood and metabolic waste to the surface.

Usually between 3 to 7 days. The darker the mark, the more stagnation was present. As you receive regular treatments, the marks will become lighter and fade faster.

We can perform "Flash Cupping" or "Dynamic Moving Cupping," which provides the benefits of decompression with much less risk of long-lasting marks.

No. While they look dramatic, the skin is generally not tender. Most clients forget the marks are even there until they look in a mirror.

02 — The Session

It feels like a tight, pulling sensation. It is the opposite of a standard massage; instead of being pushed down, you feel your muscles being "lifted" and spread apart.

It is "intense" but should not be painful. Nathalie monitors the suction levels closely and can adjust the vacuum pressure at any moment to your comfort level.

We use medical-grade polycarbonate and silicone cups. Polycarbonate allows for precise suction control via a vacuum pump, while silicone is used for moving, dynamic work.

Typically 5 to 15 minutes for static placement, or they are moved continuously across the tissue for the duration of the targeted treatment.

03 — The Recovery

Cupping opens the pores and increases blood flow. Cold water or wind can cause the muscles to spasm or "lock in" the cold, potentially causing more tension. Keep the area warm.

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours. Your body is busy processing the metabolic waste released during the session; adding the stress of a workout can delay recovery.

Those with skin infections, open wounds, severe anemia, or those on high-dose blood thinners should avoid cupping or consult with their doctor first.

This is a "healing response." Your lymphatic system is working hard to clear out years of stagnation. Rest and hydration are your best allies.
